Wanda & Paula Of Affiliate Blog Online at Famous Bloggers Club
Tow friends who became a bloggers they are successfully operating a number of online internet businesses. They have over 20 blogs and websites making money. I get to know them when they wrote about the CommentLuv plugin post on my blog; they really like comments so don’t forget to add your comment on this post. And today on Famous Bloggers Club we had the chance to interview Wanda & Paula of Affiliate Blog Online, PLZ enjoy the read.
Q. Tell the world something about yourself and what you do in life.
We are two friends who met many years ago whilst working for the same government department here in Australia. Since we both had a love for the internet and were both disillusioned with our 9-5 jobs we decided to start looking at creating an online business. We first began selling jewellery online but soon realized that selling a physical product was a lot more work than affiliate marketing so we quickly moved to blogging and creating websites full-time. We both love to travel and will find any excuse to do so. So we often attend blogging and affiliate marketing conferences both here in Australia and the US.
Follow us on Twitter @affiliateblogon and Facebook.
Q. What was the story behind your Blog? (How you start Blogging – since when – how did you named your Blog).
We have been working on the internet since 2004 but didn’t start blogging until around 2006. We first found out about making money online from James Martell – an exceptional mentor from whom we learned how to put together a website and get it ranking using natural search. His advice and help gave us a solid start to working online. Even so, we made lots of mistakes and didn’t really start succeeding in this business until around 2007-08.
We currently have over 20 blogs/websites and found that this is too many to manage with just the two of us, so we really only concentrate on just a couple at any one time – www.affiliateblogonline.com is our main focus at the moment.
It’s quite funny really, I remember when we first appeared on Google on page 11, we thought we had it made. Then we put James Martell’s methods into practice and now we are consistently on page 1 of Google for a huge number of keywords. In fact, for one site we rank generally between 1 and 3 for most keywords and somewhere on the first or second page for the rest.
Q. Have you earned any money from been a Blogger? (How you did it – add links to useful websites for making money online – If NOT then tell us why you blog)
Yes we do make a full-time income from our blogs. When we started out we joined the usual affiliate merchants and although we made a little money, it was minimal and in no way could we retire on it. Then last year we decided to try Amazon on our niche product blogs. We had been reluctant to use them previously because of the low commission. But then we realized that the more you sell the more your commission increases AND they convert extremely well. Using Amazon was the turning point for us.
We still make money from our other affiliate programs and also quite a nice income from Google AdSense. Over the years we have tried PPC but it hasn’t ever really paid off for us.
We did work hard to get where we are today but in hindsight if we listened to our mentors a little more it probably wouldn’t have taken so long to succeed. We also lost focus along the way and started to spread ourselves too thin. With this sort of business it is so easy to work on too many things at once. When we stood back and analyzed what we were doing we realized that we really only needed to concentrate on 1 or 2 things and we could still succeed.
We are constantly learning however, and will look for mentors wherever we can find them. If you want to be the best then you need to learn from the best. So we are currently members of Wealthy Affiliate University, the James Martell Bootcamp and just recently signed up for Yaro Staraks Blog Mastermind Course.
Q. Would you tell us about ONE of your famous posts? (Why you think it’s famous.. it could be because of “content – traffic – comments – search engines”)
I would have to say that one of our famous posts is the one that got us this interview on this site. We wrote a blog post about adding the Comment Luv plugin to our blog and linked to Hesham’s blog. This resulted in Hesham contacting us to ask if he could interview us hence why I am writing this now. This really illustrates the power of networking with other bloggers.
Q. If I asked you to suggest ONE Blogger friend to send him/her a Famous Blogger Club invitation, who you will suggest?
I would suggest Chris Molnar of Halloween Alliance

I love reading about other success – it’s inspires me!
I to have spread myself too thin on numerous occasions. I thought I start some blogs in popular topics I knew nothing about – just to make some income. One it was hard work and 2, they made no money. Now I just stick with niches I know about.

Listening to mentors: Having been a mentor, and needing mentoring, all I can say is it’s tough. People can only assimilate what they’re ready to hear. My bet is you two went as fast you could, but probably faster with the mentor even though you can see now you weren’t hearing what he (she?) was saying very clearly.
Without a mentor I bet you would have been slower.
